Patosha Jeffery is The Girls Basketball Trainer. She has been involved in basketball as a player,
coach and trainer since 1987. She has coached several young ladies that's earned
basketball scholarships to the University of Colorado, University of
Florida, Southern Mississippi, Ole Miss, Arkansas State and Florida A&M to name a few. She is
a Certified Fitness Trainer and Specialist in Sports Conditioning.
Patosha 'Po Po' Jeffery is no stranger to the basketball community
in Memphis, TN. Her stellar career began at Sherwood Junior High
school under the leadership of Coach Tim Foster. For three years,
she lead the team in scoring, steals and assists. Patosha's outstanding
performances did not stop on the junior high basketball court.
Her next stop at Hamilton High School would prove that Patosha
was more than an ordinary female athlete; she was Memphis' next
female superstar. With her high school basketball career in the
hands of prominent girls coach Robert Newman, Patosha continued
to be molded for success. During her sophomore year, she finished
the season as second leading scorer in Memphis. She lead her team
to great heights achieving the City runner-up trophy, City Champions
and District Champions her junior and senior year as a Hamilton
Wildcat. Patosha's high school career went by fast but not without
her scoring over 30 points in several games, her notching a 45
point performance and being named the 1995 Best of the Preps Girls
Basketball Player of the Year! All of the awards and accolades
led to numerous scholarship offers, but only one college could
receive this basketball superstar. Patosha Jeffery signed with
the University of Memphis and this is where her collegiate career
began. Her freshman and sophomore teams were Conference USA's
league champions, tournament champions and earned NCAA berths.
She played with WNBA players Tamika Whitmore and LaTonya Johnson.
The basketball court wasn't the only area Patosha was scoring
points and striving for success. Inside the classroom, she was
a stellar student and known for her academic savvy. Patosha left
Sherwood Junior High school with the highest grade point average
of the ninth grade class and graduated from Hamilton High School
as co-salutatorian with her teammate, Sabrina Watson. Patosha
graduated from the University of Memphis in May 1999 with a Bachelor
of Business degree with Magna Cum Laude honors. It's obvious that
Patosha embodies true understanding for the term student-athlete.
Patosha Jeffery's mission is to "Add Value to Others through
Inspiration and Participation" and "To Mentor Young Ladies through
the Process of Excelling in Basketball". Patosha's vision is to
elevate girl's basketball in the city of Memphis by teaching the
game, exposing players to different areas of the game and also
gaining national exposure to girl's basketball in Memphis and
the Mid-South.
